Celebrating National Indigenous History Month

The month of June marks National Indigenous History Month and yesterday (June 21) Frankland honoured National Indigenous Peoples Day. During the month, students have been learning about the history and cultures of Indigenous Peoples in Canada. Nishinabee artist Melanie Bartel will also be doing an art tutorial for our Frankland Falcons this week. It’s  a pre-recorded art lesson that will be shared with all classes, JK to Gr 6, and she will be teaching the kids in the style of the “Chicken” paintings. Please see her website: http://www.melaniebartel.com for examples of her work.

The attached PDF has been prepared by Ms. Jensen (thank you!) and includes a number of great resources for parents, including many great stories that families can read together.
