Today we had an Eco Club meeting in the foyer led by Liisa who taught us a lot about plants and what they can do, how they interact and how to care for them. Did you know this about plants?
We also started a Plant Experiment. Come visit the front lobby of Frankland School and participate by talking (or not talking) to the plants as directed. Give them a spray if they seem dry as the school is an incredibly hot and dry place. Let’s see what happens in a couple of weeks.
Check out our booklet we put together for the Plant Drive with interesting “myth busting” facts about plants, directions for the experiment above that you can try at home and some tips on how to care for indoor (typically tropical) plants.
Thanks again for your support! Keep sending plants to school!
This January, bring a plant to school to help improve air quality and remove toxins as well as improve student performance and well being.
Here’s a quick guide to some of the best air cleaning plants and the common toxins that they clean from the NASA Clean Air Study.
For more information, take a look at this handout created by Liisa of Greenhouse Medicine. Email her if you have any questions.
We hope to get at least 3 plants per classroom and other spaces around the school. Thanks so much for your support and participation!
The Indoor Plant Drive starts on Monday January 22 and runs until Friday, February 2.
